Memorial Health Increases CT Exam Safety and Efficacy with Toshiba’s Aquilion ONE

February 17, 2015

TUSTIN, Calif., Feb. 17, 2015 – Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, Ga., is delivering higher-quality diagnoses to its emergency and trauma patients with Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc.’s AquilionTM ONE CT system. With the system’s Single Energy Metal Artifact Reduction (SEMAR) technology, streak artifacts from metal implants are minimized.

“The Aquilion ONE has allowed me to be the best neuroradiologist that I can be,” said Dr. Peter Britt, section chief of Neuroradiology, Memorial University Medical Center. “Its focus on safety with dose reduction and diagnostic accuracy with its SEMAR technology makes it our best CT solution and the one we rely on most for safe, reliable procedures.”

With SEMAR technology, streak artifacts from metal implants or objects in the body are reduced. Memorial Health utilizes the technology heavily in trauma and emergency care, one of its largest offerings. In addition, dose reduction technology, AIDR 3D, allows the facility to offer safer exams without reducing image quality.

“As a high-volume facility that sees a large number of emergency situations every day, Memorial Health needed a system that moved as quickly as they did,” said Satrajit Misra, senior director, CT Business Unit, Toshiba. “By using the Aquilion ONE, they are ensuring that quality and safety are not a choice they or their patients have to make.”
